Appraisals at Heritage

What is the value of my object or collection? This question arises in people's minds after an inheritance, a find with a metal detector or when they want to cash in on a collection. In such situations, you want advice from an honest and expert appraiser. You can find these at Heritage Auctions Europe. He or she can tell you more about your pieces or collections and determine the value free of charge and without obligation.

What you do with the valuation is entirely up to you. If you wish, you can then ask our appraiser to advise you on sales through our auctions. Thanks to our unprecedented reach among collectors and dealers, you are assured of a high yield.

You can already register your objects for an auction during the valuation and leave them insured and safe with us.

We do appraisals for:

  • Coins
  • Tokens
  • Banknotes
  • Art & Curiosities
  • Jewelery & Jewelery
  • Stamps
  • Postcards
  • Gold and Silver
  • Collectibles
  • Militaria

Appraisals, this is how they work

To determine the value accurately, any background information you have is welcome. In addition, our expert wants to assess the objects up close. That is why valuations take place during a conversation between you and an appraiser. After obtaining information, a thorough inspection and possibly consulting sources (eg catalogues), the valuation follows.

To make it easy for you, we offer various options for a free valuation. You have the following options:

  • Come visit our location

You are welcome without an appointment during our walk-in days, weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. These take place in our auction house in IJsselstein. On Wednesdays you can contact us between 10:00 and 16:00 for a free valuation of your coins, banknotes, medals, awards, stamps and postcards. For a free valuation of your art, curiosities, militaria, gold, silver and jewelry, you can visit us every Thursday between 10 am and 4 pm. We also provide a free valuation at other times. You can make an appointment by telephone (030-6063944) with an appraiser in our auction house in IJsselstein.

  • Send an email with a valuation request

You may doubt whether your object is worth a trip to IJsselstein or a collector's fair. In that case, we advise you to give us a call (030-6063944). You can also send us an e-mail with some clear pictures of the items. We recommend this especially for art & curiosities, militaria and jewelry. A useful tool for such a valuation request is the appraisal form.

  • Ask us to visit you

A free appraisal at home is also possible. We do this in special cases, such as large objects or collections that are difficult to transport.

  • Visit a fair

Our appraisers regularly visit trade fairs. Check our calendar for all fair that we go to and pass by for a free valuation.

Valuation report

After a free valuation at our office in IJsselstein, you can, if desired, request an official valuation report. There may be a need for a valuation report due to insurance or because of family matters. At your request, our appraisers record the value of your belongings in a valuation report. Unlike the appraisals themselves – which are always free at Heritage Auctions Europe – there are some costs associated with drawing up such a report: 250 euros including VAT.

Our valuation reports comply with the regulations of the insurance companies. We are a member of the Federation of Valuers, Brokers and Auctioneers in movable property and the Hobéon certification agency.

To be sure of coverage with an insurance policy, we recommend that you submit the report to the insurer. Ask the company to state in black and white that they agree with the valuation report. This prevents discussions afterwards. Another tip: take pictures of your insured object(s). All in all, this gives a feeling of peace of mind.
